The obvious reason why I draw Whisky asleep
is of course because she stays still for a minute
or two.

But there is another reason: I don't want to
expose my little cat to the stare of the drawing
artist. In order to see for drawing, an artist has to
distance her/himself from the model. We must
forget about our relationship to the subject and
look at it objectively. We search for form and
proportions, spatial relationships, line and
pattern, we analyze.

Whisky being an artist's cat will learn to ignore
my stare, so there will be drawings of her in
action.
